Queen Bee Events

Event, styling and repurposing ideas.

I’ve been incognito…but back with funky styles and wonder very soon.

Passion renewed:

I’ve been busy with 2 events and pretty bogged down, but when I get inspired by an idea (like these snowflake/stars I saw in a magazine), I won’t stop until I’m filling trash cans with them.  In this case, I used these on my tree this year and they became a theme for my tree and inspired many other paper and recycled products on the tree.

The blue, white and gray palettes on these pumpkins are fabulous.  I’ll be running to get some chalkboard paint and leaving out my fall decor longer than normal this year (or putting it up earlier)!

Menu DIY/Obsessions?

For someone who claims they’re not into planning weddings, I sure can’t get enough of the creative chalkboard-inspired (and other creative) menus for weddings and celebratory events.  It makes me want to have a dinner party for the sole purpose of creating a menu!  Check more out on www.marthastewartweddings.com

Come sit for a spell:

My latest purchase:  Porch Parties by Denise Gee.  I love outdoor entertaining, and creating an outdoor room or ambience for a party.  It’s a thrill to figure out how to pull an old dresser out to pose as a bar, make a frame into a chalkboard menu and bring out multiple chairs for seating (even if they don’t match but somehow they look great together).  It’s easy to have a porch party in the south, so that’s what I’ll be focusing on next with this book and a porch redesign!

Customized wine bags:

I love making these wine bags.  I’ve been ordering them wholesale, along with different Martha Stewart stencils (not all of them MS stencils, but some) and monogramming for birthdays, anniversaries, etc…I’m going to start on some fall colors and winter/holiday colors soon.  Stay tuned!

Piggy, piggy.
I love this idea from savvyhousekeeping.com.  Buy the plastic animals from a craft store, spray paint them any color (I would prefer white too), and use them for place cards at your dinner party.  This little piggy goes to farmers market, and this little piggy stays home on my tablescape…(well, I tried).

I love it!
I recently planned a Mexican-themed party where I happily used the papel picados that I mostly could only find on Luna Bazaar (www.lunabazaar.com), that would ship quickly and cost a somewhat decent price.  This is before I saw the DIY page from Martha Stewart Entertaining Crafts online.  For this event, I wouldn’t have had time to make them, but good for future.  Click on photo to go to instructions!
Revision today: I’ve found a mexican banner from www.partycheap.com that is 50% less than www.lunabazaar.com that was selling last week.  However, I do think Luna’s were cuter (their products usually are).  But when you’re using these banners, they’re going to get destroyed anyway and will only be able to be used once due to the tissue material.

PICNICS….

We found ourselves taking a lot of picnics to the pool and parks these days.  I love to pack a wonderful, gourmet picnic.  My next goal?  A picnic-themed party for friends/and or client.  These photos are spectacular picnic photos from Camille Styles of Austin, Texas.  Enjoy…and enjoy packing up those picnic baskets.
